Online Cause Shopping Engine nonprofitshoppingmall.com Teams Up With Global Organization EarthWatch Institute.

Starting immediately, NPSM invites EarthWatch supporters to shop+give for the organization via their own private label online mall at http://shop.earthwatch.org/shop.

NPSM is excited about the new partnership with EarthWatch Institute.
Corine Couwenberg: "EarthWatch is really a perfect match for nonprofitshoppingmall.com. The organization celebrates 40 years of existence and has a strong support base. However, it still has the grass roots energy of a young organization. EarthWatch members are passionate about their mission. EarthWatch works globally so they can benefit from all of our North American, EuroZone and British retailer relationships.

While established and global, they are building their online marketing and social media presence. We expect for EarthWatch to perform very well with the new ShopAnthropy revenue stream."
The EarthWatch private label online mall is already up and running at http://shop.earthwatch.org/shop.
Supporters can also download the EZ Shopper app - http://shop.earthwatch.org/shop/apps  -and install it on their Internet Explorer or Firefox toolbar.
The Facebook Shop+Give Tab will be added imminently.

Corine Couwenberg: "There is still a chance to shop for the holidays and benefit EarthWatch. And we hope that many supporters will use their online gift cards in the coming weeks as well."

30 Million Dollars Could Benefit Non-Profits on Green Monday

Dear ShopAnthropists!

comScore announced this morning that shoppers will spend one billion dollars online today, Green Monday, to take advantage of the great online holiday shopping deals!
I have to admit, I needed to google the math to figure out how much 3% of one billion makes. It's a lot of zeros before the comma, after all. It comes to a whopping 30 million dollars! That's how much money would go into the accounts of our participating non-profit organizations if all shoppers used ShopAnthropy, either by using the EZ Shopper app, our website or the non-profit's Facebook Shop+Give Tab!
comScore also announced that shoppers have spend a whopping 24 billion dollars on online holiday shopping so far this season! That would mean 240 million dollars in ShopAnthropy support!
Can you even begin to imagine what that kind of financial help would mean to the fight against AIDS, the support for victims of Rape, Abuse and Incest, efforts to save beaches and oceans  or helping kids with autism,

Please go to www.nonprofitshoppingmall.com and choose your charity! Make your shopping count!

Happy Holidays!

We Are Honoring World AIDS DAY By Making MTV's Staying Alive Foundation Change Maker of December

Dear ShopAnthropists,

As we honor World AIDS Day and commence AIDS Awareness Month, we have selected MTV Staying Alive Foundation as the Change Maker of December.
SAF's Mission Statement explains what they do:

As a global grant-making organization, the Foundation’s mission is to encourage, energize, and empower young people who are involved in HIV/AIDS awareness, education and prevention campaigns.
The Foundation does this by presenting the Staying Alive Awards to young individuals and youth groups who are focused on stopping the spread of HIV and who have demonstrated the potential to become future leaders.  The award comes with a financial grant to assist them in continuing and expanding their work, and provides public recognition to inspire others to get involved.

SAF has the wonderful, passionate support of celebrity Ambassadors Travis McCoy, Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson and Jamal Edwards who have all been continually involved to help raise awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS with SAF.

Please join SAF on Facebook and Shop+Support! Their mall has the coolest shops! Karma Loop, Urban Outfitter, Swell, Sephora, The Body Shop to name a few! You can make a difference!

Are Non-Profits At Risk Of Missing Out On Holiday-Cause-Shopping Windfall? nonprofitshoppingmall.com Crunches The Numbers.

Cause-Shopping, also called Consumer Philanthropy or ShopAnthropy, has been around for over a decade. However, the fundraising tool that takes advantage of retailer affiliate percentages is still little known by the public and often underused by Non-Profit Organizations. Non-Profits are missing out on a possible windfall during the holiday shopping season.

Cause-shopping engine nonprofitshoppingmall.com is issuing an alert to affiliated non-profit organizations and interested non-profit organizations in the U.S., Canada, the European Union and Great Britain. As the holiday shopping season gets underway, the average American is estimated to spend US $704.00 this year on gifts and miscellaneous holiday items. Estimating that this sum can generate a conservatively calculated 3% in earmarked donations, the resulting total per shopper could add up to $21.12. Organizations such as Surfrider Foundation with over 50 000 members and nearly 160 000 Facebook friends could benefit from hundreds of thousands of dollars in added revenue at no personal cost to their donors.
Corine Couwenberg, president: "My company offers several fundraising tools that incorporate ShopAnthropy in the online shopping process automatically. We collect the percentages from hundreds of our affiliated retailers and donate the sum total to our participating non-profits. Essentially, we turn online shopping into automatic online giving - at no cost to the shopper. In the current economic climate, this can be very helpful to non-profits. We urge organizations not to leave money on the table!"

The fundraising tools consist of the non-profits private label online shoppingmalls, the search engine toolbar widget EZ Shopper app and the newly added Facebook Shop+Support tab that links organizations' Facebook pages straight to their online shoppingmalls.
To learn more, reporters and non-profits are encouraged to contact NPSM.

Today Is WORLD COPD DAY! Think ORANGE!

Dear ShopAnthropists,

We are honoring WORLD COPD DAY today, November 16th. I googled the event this morning. We are glad to see that media worldwide are helping raise awareness! Check out The Express Tribune - Herald Tribune's Asian edition - featuring an article from Karachi: World COPD Day: ‘Smoking and pollution responsible for rising lung conditions’

You can help! Attend the World COPD Day on Facebook.
Shop with npsm today and support our organization of the month: COPD Foundation!

Does ShopAnthropy make a difference? YES! 1008 Facebook fans are attending the World COPD Facebook Event. If they each spent $50 that results in 50,400.00 dollars total. Averaging 3% in funds raised for COPD Foundation would come to $1,512! That pays some office expenses!

Sharing The Love: GMAC Promotes Surfing For Autistic Children - St. Bernard Project Helps Veterans

Dear ShopAnthropists,

Despite all the chaos in the world, we have witnessed moments of beauty and great character the last few days.
Just when it seems that there is nothing but bad news, we see GMAC - that is big wave surfer world record holder Garrett McNamara - on the Today Show this morning. He could brag about that 90-foot giant face he just surfed in Portuguese waters but GMAC uses his network time to talk about what really makes him happy: surfing with autistic kids! Giving back, teaching kids all about the stoke.

And yesterday, on Veterans Day, we got an email from our friends at St. Bernard Project in New Orleans. They still have lots to do to rebuild the Lower 9th but they also have developed an amazing program to help war veterans back home in Louisiana.
Their website explains: SBP’s veterans programs are focused on addressing three problems: high unemployment rate among men and women who have served our country; affordable housing crisis; and high instance of blighted and vacant properties in the New Orleans area. By hiring and training veterans in residential construction and paying them fair and livable wages and benefits, SBP can increase its workforce to rebuild homes and further transform blighted and vacant properties and neighborhoods. Talk about a win-win! Good Work, Good Pay, and a New Mission for Soldiers and Veterans.

We hope you join the movements to change the world for the better and at least use ShopAnthropy to make your shopping count. Earmark money for your non-profit at no cost.
Through NPSM you can support SBP, Autism Speaks and Surfrider Foundation, among many others.

We get really sweet Holiday Shopping deals from hundreds of affiliated retailers.

November Spotlight: COPD Foundation - Now Shop+Support Also On Facebook!

Dear ShopAnthropists,

For the month of November we will spotlight the COPD Foundation and help them honor the National COPD Awareness Month. COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The spectrum includes a group of lung diseases including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, refractory asthma, and bronchiectasis. COPD is the third leading cause of death in the U.S., 12 million have it now and 12 more million are developing it at this time.

This sounds fairly dry but I have experienced the effects in a much more real way. My father had emphysema. In the last years of his life he struggled enormously just to catch a single breath. As he put it: "It feels like someone is compressing you chest. You inhale with all your might and no oxygen comes into your lungs". I am sure that many of you have witnessed the struggle and feel compelled to help.

COPD Foundation's mission focuses on supporting programs and initiatives that work to help improve the quality of life for individuals with COPD.

We are all about to get started with our holiday shopping. Make it count! Earmark those corporate gifting programs dollars for COPD Foundation by getting their EZ Shopper app.
And even easier: go to their brand new FACEBOOK SHOP + SUPPORT COPD tab from your tablet or computer.

Does ShopAnthropy make a difference?
YES!

The average American spends 704 dollars on their annual holiday shopping. If 10 000 supporters spend that amount online, COPD will receive over 300 000 dollars in earmarked donations!

nonprofitshoppingmall is affiliated with hundreds of retailers. We get daily deals with special offers, coupons and sales!

So get the deals, save money and make your shopping count!

Now Shop The SKYMALL at Sea Level!

Dear ShopAnthropists!

Here’s a great opportunity -- Shop SkyMall at Sea Level through nonprofitshoppingmall.com — you know all those things that you think you might need at 35,000 ‘ but just aren’t willing to pull the ecommerce trigger on at that height -- well, here’s an opportunity to revisit those sky high dreams and make them yours.  We’ve chosen a few of our favorite things — I hear a song coming on...  and we hope you’ll agree that you can’t live without them either.  As we get closer to the holidays we’ll be posting more of their décor items as well — I love browsing through the SkyMall catalog on my frequent flights but I’m happy to have the opportunity to ‘come down’ before I actually buy anything — do you think that all that cabin pressure has anything to do with purchasing decisions at 35,000 ‘.... Let’s weigh in on that thought process please ...

In the meantime, check out our new SkyMall category and shop without turbulence to benefit your favorite charity ...  What do you think will be next — shopping while riding the space shuttle to the moon?  I think I’ll stay stateside and start slow ....

Stay safe and let the shopping force be with you .....

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month! Let's Shop TEAL!

Dear ShopAnthropists,

We are celebrating the National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month with our friends at Ovarian Cancer National Alliance by putting the spotlight for the month on the organization.

Ovarian cancer statistics are alarming. About 21 000 women in the United States get ovarian cancer every year. 15 000 of them will not survive. While great progress has been made in recent years in the treatment of other cancers, there has been no progress concerning ovarian cancer. The mortality rate is the same as in 1981, the first year of Ronald Reagan's presidency! We support OCNA's mission to save women's lives by shopping teal! Starting today, our affiliated retailers offer wonderful teal colored products that we have organized in a very easy to use Shop Teal category. Get OCNA's EZ Shopper app and shop for them.

OCNA has organized many wonderful events for the month of September. A partnership with AVON Books will raise funds for them. You can double the benefit by shopping for Avon Books Kiss-and-TEAL romance novels online, go to Barnes and Noble and OCNA will get a double benefit, the Kiss and TEAL donation from Avon and the earmarked donations from Barnes and Noble!

Check out many more easy ways to help on www.ovariancancer.org.

Don't forget to show your support by wearing the color teal on Friday, September 2nd. Let's make a difference!

Thank you for being a ShopAnthropist!

New Orleans: 6 Years After Hurricane Katrina

Dear Friends,

It will be 6 years this coming Monday, August 29th, that the levees broke. And the good times are still not rolling in many parts of the Big Easy. While the French Quarter has been back in business for several years, St. Bernard is still under reconstruction.

St. Bernard Project has already rebuild 385 homes for senior citizens, people with disabilities and families with children who can not afford to have their homes rebuilt by contractors. 50 are under construction right now and much more work is to be done.
Louisiana native Britney Spears joined the effort earlier this year by becoming the first official Ambassador for SBP. Fundraising is an ongoing project but get this: SBP needs only $20,000.00 to put a family in a home!

ShopAnthropists can help!

Download and install SBP's EZ Shopper app!  Then get your New Orleans fix while shopping online! Netflix has the whole first season of HBO's Treme on DVD! Plus many films that take place in New Orleans. Get all the Jazz and Zydeco on iTunes, order your Cajun food ingredients from Dean and Deluca and have yourself a little party to help New Orleans.

If you can make it to New Orleans this weekend, go to St. Bernard's 6th Anniversary of Katrina Event at Irish House. Of course, it involved awesome food by Chef Matt Murphy and great music!

Laissez les bons temps rouler and don't forget New Orleans!

Ralph Lauren, Rugby and Denim and Supply Now on nonprofitshoppingmall.com!

Dear ShopAnthropists!

We are thrilled to announce two brand new retailers – RalphLauren.com and Rugby by Ralph Lauren.  One of America’s style icons for decades, Ralph Lauren really captures the flattering look that women of every age seek and desire.  His collections are chic, classic and any piece from his lines will last a lifetime.  And that’s what real fashion is all about.  I was recently in Aspen and just had to check out their latest leather collection – Sadly I had to leave without buying anything -- but the alluring scent of all that cowgirl chic was worth the trip…  What is it with him?  One thing I’ve learned, if you see something you love, buy it.  I missed my golden opportunity at Harrods last spring when he brought out his exclusive Black Label line of silk charmeuse motorcycle jackets.  Thought I’d be able to find it online stateside but was severely disappointed …

New for this year is his downtown Denim & Supply Series. Very hip, very well put together!

I was super excited to see what Rugby had to offer.  So classically collegiate – but so NOT left coast  The line also works very well for that first internship, or that entry level position – where one has to be polished but never dressed better than the boss ….Check it out –
It’s definitely Ivy League and fabulous !!

Oh – and don’t forget the RL Restaurants – Chicago, Paris and Rugby in DC….Y-U-M !!

Thank you for turning your shopping into giving!

How You Can Help Your Kids' Teachers!

Dear Friends and ShopAnthropists!

There is an easy way for you to fundraise for your kids' classroom while you shop online for their back to school supplies! Enter DonorsChoose.org, a non-profit organization started by teacher Charles Best that specifically helps teachers in public schools fundraise for their classroom.
Here is how it works:
1) Your kids' teachers sign up and create their campaign.
2) You download the EZ SHOPPER APP for DonorsChoose.org, do your online shopping and all your earmarked donations go directly to your kids' classroom!

DonorsChoose is such a good idea that Oprah volunteered her time to speak on their behalf.

Getting Ready for Back 2 School

Dear Friends and ShopAnthropists!

We are trying to just enjoy the summer and relax but we can't help but notice all those back-to-school ads on TV. Some started in July already! How annoying! It makes it so much harder to forget about the coming responsibilities. However, time flies and good deals abound among our affiliated retailers so I think we should share. But for starters, I will share a really fun German tradition: the "Schultüte". The cone-shaped gift bag is given to kids on the first day of school in what I call "the old country". The colorful cones get filled with back-to-school goodies and some candy and crayons and small gifts like that. It makes the transition from summer fun to school work a lot less painful. I have never seen them sold in the U.S. but I found a blog (MamaMamaHoney) that gives detailed instructions on how you can make your own.

Thank heaven for our sisters with crafty talent!
You can get all the necessary supplies at OFFICE DEPOT or STAPLES and generate donations for your charity of choice.

We did what we do best: we scoured our retailers for the best deals and some fun unusual stuff we can buy to get the kids ready. You find them all compiled on the Back To School page.
We also get daily new discount offers so make sure you follow us on Facebook or Twitter to get the deals.

Thank you for being a ShopAnthropist and sorry for disrupting your summer dreaming!

How You Can Help Children in Haiti and Somalia For FREE!

Dear Friends and ShopAnthropists!

There are two humanitarian catastrophes brewing right now, Haiti and Somalia, and thousands of lives are at imminent risk.

The situation:

Haiti: 600 000 are still homeless and living in shelters around Port-au-Prince. Tropical storm Emily is the first storm of the 2011 hurricane season to hit the island. Recently, the cholera cases have surged again. The coming rainstorms will deteriorate the situation critically. Doctors expect a new cholera epidemic and other tropical diseases will follow.

Somalia: 29 000 children have died of famine in refugee camps in the last 90 days. 14 children die every day! 3.2 million people are starving in the camps and a massive international relief effort is underway.
You can help! Download an EZ Shopper app, do your back to school shopping online and generate donations for Artists-for-Peace-and-Justice to help Haiti or Doctors-Without-Borders to help both Haiti and Somalia! This does not cost you a cent! Your online shopping - with the help of the widget - simply earmarks the retailers' corporate gifting dollars for the organization of your choice!

12 More Days: SOMA Giving Is Beautiful Campaign

Dear Friends and ShopAnthropists,

We just discovered SOMA's Giving is Beautiful Campaign (it started in July but we spent too much time at the beach to notice. Mea culpa.) The lingerie retailer works with Bra Recyclers to help women in need. They found out that bras are the least donated but most needed item and they invite all SOMA shoppers to drop off or mail in new or slightly used bras to their retail locations. Please go through your drawers and select the pretty ones you don't use to donate to a very good cause! Click the photo to get to the link, store list and further instructions.

ShopAnthropists can also help by shopping at SOMA , 4% of your purchase will be earmarked for your organization.

Thank you for being a ShopAnthropist!

Month Of August: Spotlight On THE PARTNERSHIP AT DRUGFREE.ORG

drugfree.org

Dear Friends and ShopAnthropists,

Raising children is undoubtedly the biggest task in our lives, carrying the highest level of responsibility and anxiety of all. While we are concerned about budget cuts in education and health, on a personal level, we fear self destructive behavior among our teenage kids. We do have reason to worry! According to the National Institute On Drug Abuse, daily drug use among 8th to 12th graders has steadily increased over the last 2 years. One of our affiliated non-profit organizations has made it it's mission to Prevent, Intervene, Treat and Recover. The Partnership At Drugfree.org deals with the problem of drug, alcohol and substance abuse in a multi-pronged way. Starting with Prevention, they offer the information and tools to help parents keep their children away from drugs to begin with. The next step is Intervention. Drugfree will help you recognize signs of drug abuse and help you develop the necessary conversation with your child. Get Treatment, step 3, will direct you to treatment options, including financial help and advice on how to get your child to accept the fact that he or she needs help. Finally, step 4 - Recover - addresses all the challenges of recovery, including what to do in case of a relapse.
The Partnership At Drugfree was started in the 1980ies by a group of media advertising professionals who recognized the teen drug problem and decided to apply their Madison Avenue skills to advertising NOT doing drugs. From the early media outreach, the Partnership has grown into a highly effective organization that partners nationwide with media, other non-profits, foundations, government and community organizations to keep teens off drugs.
Dr. Drew Pinsky supports the Partnership. Actress Melissa Gilbert accepted the position of first ever Celebrity Champion last winter. She has courageously shared the story of her own battle with addiction.
Federal and state budgets for health and education have seen big cuts across the nation - with undoubtedly more to come.
You can act now and support The Partnership At Drugfree.org by shopping from their online mall and by downloading and installing their EZ Shopper app.

Woohoo, Beyoncé! Have you seen Mrs. Jay-Zee in her latest video? Beyoncé wears Agent Provocateur in “The Best Thing I Never Had".

Details on how to get that look:
The body is called Penelope, a beautiful sheer mesh basque from the 2011 Bridal Collection. Decorated with intricate white scallop lace, Penelope's clever panelling and balconette cups create a sleek and sexy silhouette. She pairs the body with Agent Provocateur stockings.

Now, we may not look quite like Sascha Fierce but good construction and padding don't hurt!

ShopAnthropy Trend Watch: Kate's Legs!

Dear ShopAnthropists,

Canadian and American media are still analyzing Kate, aka the Duchess of Cambridge's, luggage content. She apparently needed only 40 outfits for all the official events on her North American visit. The Princess also sparked a new trend which may or may not be part of Court Protocol: pantyhose! After studying the photos and having an honest look at our legs, we agree: slightly sparkling legs are much more "princessy" than naked legs. Now, while some American media surmise that she is wiggling herself into some drugstore brand, we think that Prince William would be much happier with hosiery from
Agent Provocateur! The British company turns dowdy hosiery into the sexiest secret!

Did we mention that Agent Provocateur ships throughout Canada, the USA, Great Britain and the EU and that 6% of your purchase get earmarked as a donation for your organization? Sweet! Turn up the heat, ladies!

Britney Spears Fans Help NOLA's St. Bernard Project

We are happy to see Britney Spears overcoming her health issues. She is on tour all summer long, teaming with Nicki Minaj in North America and filling concert halls. Just before she headed out on tour, SBP Ambassador Britney threw a big fundraising bash SOUTHERN STYLE for ST. BERNARD PROJECT, the New Orleans based non-profit organization that raises funds to rebuild the city. It was Hollywood A-List! Kim Kardashian, Hilary Duff, Kellan Lutz, Kelly Osbourne and many more came out to party and raised 250.000 dollars!

All of us at nonprofitshoppingmall love the Crescent City. So we just wanted to let Britney fans know that they can help her cause by downloading the SBP EZ Shopper app , installing it on their tool bars and shopping for Britney's music and tickets on our affiliated retailer sites, iTunes and Ticketmaster!

Thanks for helping! Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Month Of June: Spotlight on Do Something

Dear ShopAnthropists,

A few weeks ago we were brainstorming here at nonprofitshoppingmall.com about whom to select for our Spotlight for the month of June. Getting sidetracked from our business discussion, we also talked about the upcoming summer season - all fretting about the kids and how to keep them busy and occupied with positive activities while we work and they are - unfortunately - out of school! Well, the discussion solved at least one question. We all had the "duh!" moment! June is perfect to spotlight Do Something!

DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the U.S. that helps young people rock causes they care about. A driving force in creating a culture of volunteerism, DoSomething.org is on track to activate two million young people in 2011. By leveraging the web, television, mobile, and pop culture, DoSomething.org inspires, empowers and celebrates a generation of doers: young people (25 and under) who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.

Do Something teaches young people how to get involved, start a cause, spread the word, learn to fundraise and become successful volunteers. They also fund youth managed community projects!
We love what they do for our kids.

So in June, let's help Do Something by getting their EZ Shopper app on as many browser bars as we possibly can to help them through ShopAnthropy.
